Derby and Derbyshire Road Safety Partnership are appealing to drivers after research carried out by a charity and insurance company.

The Partnership is appealing to drivers to switch off their mobile phones before they set off driving to reduced the amount of crashes that take place, suggesting that people were four times more likely to crash if they are distracted by their phone.

The research was carried out by the charity Brake alongside Direct Line and found that two thirds of people surveyed admitted to talking on the phone while driving and 44% of young people admitted to texting at the wheel.

Mobile phone warning for drivers.
